A canopy bed is a decorative bed somewhat similar to a four-poster bed. A typical canopy bed often options posts at every of the four corners extending four toes excessive or extra above the mattress. Ornate or decorative material is often draped across the upper area between the posts and a stable swath of material may create a ceiling, or canopy instantly over the bed.
A four-poster bed is a bed with four vertical columns, one in every nook, that support a tester, or upper (often rectangular) panel. This tester or panel will typically have rails to allow curtains to be pulled around the bed. There are a selection of vintage four-poster beds extant courting to the sixteenth century and earlier; many of these early beds are highly ornate and are created from oak. An instance of such an early sixteenth-century four-poster resides in Crathes Fort, which was made for the unique fortress owners within the Burnett of Leys family.
