A canopy bed is an ornamental bed considerably just like a four-poster bed. A typical canopy bed usually options posts at each of the four corners extending four ft excessive or more above the mattress. Ornate or ornamental fabric is often draped across the higher space between the posts and a solid swath of fabric might create a ceiling, or canopy immediately over the bed.
A four-poster bed is a bed with four vertical columns, one in each nook, that assist a tester, or higher (usually rectangular) panel. This tester or panel will usually have rails to allow curtains to be pulled around the bed. There are a selection of antique four-poster beds extant dating to the sixteenth century and earlier; many of these early beds are extremely ornate and are constructed from oak. An instance of such an early sixteenth-century four-poster resides in Crathes Citadel, which was made for the original citadel homeowners within the Burnett of Leys family.
