A canopy bed is an ornamental bed somewhat just like a four-poster bed. A typical canopy bed often options posts at every of the four corners extending four feet excessive or extra above the mattress. Ornate or ornamental material is usually draped across the higher house between the posts and a strong swath of material could create a ceiling, or canopy immediately over the bed.
A four-poster bed is a bed with four vertical columns, one in every corner, that help a tester, or higher (often rectangular) panel. This tester or panel will often have rails to permit curtains to be pulled around the bed. There are a variety of vintage four-poster beds extant dating to the 16th century and earlier; many of those early beds are highly ornate and are created from oak. An example of such an early 16th-century four-poster resides in Crathes Fort, which was made for the unique citadel homeowners in the Burnett of Leys family.
