A desk is an item of furniture with a flat prime and one or more legs, used as a surface for working at, consuming from or on which to place things.Some widespread kinds of desk are the eating room desk, which is used for seated persons to eat meals; the coffee desk, which is a low desk used in living rooms to display objects or serve refreshments; and the bedside desk, which is used to place an alarm clock and a lamp. There are additionally a spread of specialised kinds of tables, akin to drafting tables, used for doing architectural drawings, and sewing tables.
