4 Post Canopy Bed

A canopy bed is an ornamental bed somewhat just like a four-poster bed. A typical canopy bed normally features posts at each of the four corners extending four toes excessive or more above the mattress. Ornate or decorative material is usually draped throughout the higher area between the posts and a solid swath of cloth may create a ceiling, or canopy immediately over the bed.

A four-poster bed is a bed with four vertical columns, one in each nook, that help a tester, or higher (normally rectangular) panel. This tester or panel will often have rails to allow curtains to be pulled around the bed. There are a selection of vintage four-poster beds extant relationship to the 16th century and earlier; many of those early beds are extremely ornate and are made out of oak. An example of such an early 16th-century four-poster resides in Crathes Castle, which was made for the unique fort owners within the Burnett of Leys family.
