Black Canopy Bed Queen

A cover mattress is an ornamental mattress considerably similar to a 4-poster bed. A typical canopy mattress often options posts at every of the 4 corners extending 4 feet high or more above the mattress. Ornate or decorative cloth is usually draped throughout the upper space between the posts and a stable swath of cloth could create a ceiling, or canopy immediately over the bed.

A 4-poster mattress is a mattress with 4 vertical columns, one in every nook, that help a tester, or upper (often rectangular) panel. This tester or panel will often have rails to permit curtains to be pulled around the bed. There are a number of vintage 4-poster beds extant dating to the 16th century and earlier; many of those early beds are extremely ornate and are produced from oak. An example of such an early 16th-century 4-poster resides in Crathes Fortress, which was made for the original citadel owners in the Burnett of Leys family.
